Circus Incubator is an international co-operation that offers young professional circus artists workshops to develop their projects in dialogue with presenters. Circus Incubator has obtained support from the European Union and the partners are Sweden, Finland, France, Spain, Canada and Brazil. Subtopia is the Swedish partner organization.
Artists and presenters often lack experience of in depth dialogue about the relationship between the artistic process and the presenter´s production and programming of performances. This dialogue can be challenging for both parties but it is crucial considering the new challenges that artists and presenters face today.
Circus Incubator is carried out in a series of two workshops. The first at Festival de Circo do Brasil (Brazil) in November 2016, and the second in Subtopia (Sweden) in February 2017. The project has already had a first round during 2016 in Finland and Canada.
Purpose of the Project
The purpose of Circus Incubator is to examine and create models for international incubation of young professionally active circus artists. The aim is to support the development of an integrated relationship between their artistic processes and how they present themselves in relation to presenters and audience. How do artists communicate their artistic vision, how do we communicate with each other and what is needed and demanded? With Circus Incubator we offer artists and presenters useful tools and experiences to stimulate this dialog.
